Vitamins are essential nutrient substances. They are required for your body in very smaller amounts for normal growth, metabolism, developing and physical well-being.
Vitamin A, B, C, D, E, K are the vitamins which are needed daily for normal metabolism and functioning of the body. Vitamin D is also an important vitamin required for our body that protects us from a wide range of health disorders. Vitamin D is available in the two forms that is vitamin D2( ergocalciferol) and vitamin D3( cholecalciferol) respectively.
Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin. Thus, the body can store it for future use. You do not eat for vitamin D. If you bask in sunshine you get adequate amount of the vitamin. This is a good thing because most foods contain very little vitamin D naturally.
However food sources of vitamin D are very rare since to obtain vitamin D we have to depend on sunlight only. Anyway other sources are also there which are rich in vitamin D.
Fish, fortified milk, soy milk and rice milk. Other alternative milk are also fortified, so intake of those will also enable you to meet the Recommended Daily Allowances (RDA). Margarine and wild mushrooms, egg yolk, sea foods, cod liver oil, beef liver, mushrooms etc.
