All about Bamboo fiber

Bamboo is a natural fiber made from the pulp of bamboo plants. In general, the fibers made from the plants are extracted from the plant fibers. But in case of bamboo fiber they are extracted from the synthetic viscose made from bamboo cellulose. Because of its eco friendly nature bamboo has gained popularity very soon. Many technologies have been developed to use bamboo fiber in wide range of textile and fabric industries. The fabrics made from bamboo are 100% bamboo yarn or a blend of other yarns.

Bamboo contains natural anti bacterial characteristics and that is the reason why it is seldom eaten by pests or infected by pathogens. After making it in to apparel it do possess the same qualities and hence does not cause any skin allergies.

Bamboo is often termed as a green fiber since its cultivation controls the green house gases. They are the fastest growing grass plants which is beneficial for cultivation. It can grow in any climatic conditions. And the fabric made from these plants have excellent permeability, moisture vapor transmission property, better drape, splendid colors and is easy to dye.

It is also used in the manufacture of hygienic material such as the sanitary napkin, masks, mattress, food packing bags, etc. since it is anti bacterial in nature. It has natural sterilization properties and hence used in the production of bandages, masks, and any other surgical material.
