Kegs are nothing but small steel barrels with a little capacity of 40 liters and are used to store and transport beer and other non alcoholic beverages. Traditional kegs have the standard capacity of 50 gallons and are made up of wood. But these days kegs are generally made up of steel or aluminum and are varying in different sizes. Kegs are most commonly used to store and serve beer. For the convenience or for some other reasons there are different types of kegs available.
Following are the different types of kegs available in the market.
- Mini Keg: These Kegs come with a capacity of 5 liters and are provided with pressurized pumps. They are made up of aluminum and can be recycled very easily. Because of the comfort of placing them in the refrigerator they are used widely. In Canada they are called as Bubba Kegs.
- Beer Ball: This is a type of mini keg which is also called as party ball. It has the capacity of 5.2 gallons and is made up of disposable plastic. They also come in smaller sizes and are easy to use.
- Half Barrel Keg: The name itself says that they are half barrels that means they are half of a barrel. These are standard barrel sizes which are used in U.S and their capacity is to hold 15.5 gallons of beer.
- Quarter Barrel Keg: The barrel which is half to the size of the half barrel keg is called as Quarter barrel Keg and its capacity is 7.75 gallons. This is also called as pony keg.
- Sixth Barrel Keg: These kegs are cylindrical in shape and are also called as torpedo kegs. These are smaller than half barrel kegs and are made up of stainless steel.
- One Way Kegs: Ecokeg is one of the famous keg available in the market. Their capacity ranges from 30-38 liters. They are made up of plastic and are much lighter and easily recyclable.
