Efficient Systems in Smart Vehicles

Cars are increasingly using more technology to enhance the comfort and safety and drive by improving maneuverability. These features are available modern cars. They are useful for people in the automobile and those on the road. This article discusses a few technologies that are a feature of these cars.

Adaptive high beam control
The vehicles are equipped with high beam control to enhance the vision of the driver in low illumination levels. The high beam accounts for the lowest possible lighting conditions. Whereas the roads are provided with street lights and the incoming traffic from behind and front adds up to the illumination levels.

Thus, there is no need for the illumination levels that the high beam caters to. Smart systems present in the cars including the cameras sense the already present illumination levels on the roads and adjust the high beam intensity in an order that optimum illumination levels are present on the roads. These systems also take into account the incoming traffics from front and behind and automatically dims the high beam in order to not the make the driver around the curve feel uncomfortable. In this way this technology can save a heavy toll on the vehicle battery and save its power for long life and avoid frequent charging of the batteries.

Engine start/stop technology
This is a premium technology available in premium cars alone. By this technology, the cars stop their engine while braking and while decelerating and start the engine again while accelerating. This approach of engine functioning can save a considerable amount of fuel and cost of operating the car.

Regenerative braking
Regenerative braking is a smart approach to charge the car batteries during braking. The advancements of the power electronics over the days has led to inception of this technology. The energy of the vehicle that is wasted as heat over braking is utilized by this approach by replacing the braking hardware. The kinetic energy of the wheels is used to turn generators during braking that charges the batteries. In this way, the waste energy during braking is used to charge the batteries thereby increasing their life and saving them from infrequent charging.

Integrated solar panels
Many vehicles are equipped with solar panels that can charge the batteries of the vehicles by themselves under the naturally available sunlight. It is cost effective and comes as a relief over the fears that the batteries may run out of the charge in middle of nowhere. They also save the cost over getting the batteries charged.

A better vehicle
Modern cars have become smart over the years to meet the needs of the user. Efficient systems are the need of the hour and help to a great deal in reducing the wastage of energy and making the atmosphere pollution free. This practice over the years is beneficial to users and environment.
