Know the Different Types Of Air Conditioners

Centrifugal FanThere are various types of air conditioners, selecting the right type depends on the size of the area that needs to be cooled. In this article we will discuss about the different types of ACs that are commonly used.

Windows AC
It is a single unit and this type of air conditioners are mostly used in small and single rooms. All the components such as the compressor, condenser, cooling coil, expansion coil, expansion valve or coil are enclosed in a single unit. Slot is made in the wall of the room and the unit is fitted or it also fitted in the window sill. Moreover it is less expensive when compared to other types of air conditioners.

Split AC
Split AC has two units, the internal unit and the external unit. The internal unit is installed inside the room that takes in the warm air and throws out the cold air. Whereas the outdoor unit is installed outside the house that has compressor, condenser and expansion valve that is interconnected with indoor unit through pipes and electric cables. The function of outdoor unit is to throw away the warm air. Split ACs do not make much noise. Today most people prefer this type of AC as they do not occupy much space and do not require a window to be fixed, it can be directly mounted on the wall.

Central AC
Central ACs are used for cooling large areas such as big houses, buildings, hotels, offices, movie theaters, etc. It consists of huge compressor that has capacity to produce tons of conditioned air. Moreover it does not make much noise, it is very silent and comfortable. It consists of two units, the evaporator and the condensing unit. Refrigerant tubing connects both the units. The evaporator is placed in such a way that air conditioning and heating system can use the same duct work. The condensing unit is a large unit and is fitted outside the house, building, etc.

Tower AC
Tower air conditioners are free floor standing units consisting of two units; the internal unit and the external unit. As the internal unit is free standing, it does not require wall installation. It is kept in some corner of the room that occupies some floor space. It can be easily moved to any area where required. It is often kept in large rooms as it has high capacity of cooling. It is ideal for commercial purpose.
