Wall decals are one of the modern techniques which are used in creating effortless and attractive interiors. Even though applying wall decals does not require any expert supervision, there are a few steps which need to be followed carefully before using them on walls. Let us check them.
Procedure for applying wall decals:
- Always remember that wall decals are best suited only for plain and smooth textured surfaces. Hence make sure that the surfaces you have chosen are not roughly textured and are also free from any dust and dirt. Use warm water and a mild liquid soap to clean the surface in case it contains any dust. Once it is clean and dry, then go forward with the remaining process.
- Have a perfect idea about where to fix and how to arrange the different parts of the wall decals. Depending on the design you choose, wall decals contain a single decal or a combination of multiple decals. In case of more than one decal it is better to cut them in to different parts.
- A wall decal will have two parts. One is the transparent vinyl cover on which the decal is printed and the other is the white backing that should be removed before using the wall decal.
- Before removing the backing, place the whole decal on a flat surface with the graphic side facing up and with the help of the squeegee provided with the decal, smooth out the decal to remove any air bubbles in it. Do it for the entire sheet and start removing the white backing carefully.
- Start from the edges, peel the backing slowly and check to it if the decal is on the transparent cover and nothing is on the backing. If you find any traces of design on the backing stop peeling, attach it again to the vinyl sheet and try to smooth it once again.
- After successful removal of white backing carefully place the decal on the required surface or the wall and press firmly with the hand and see to it that there are no air bubbles. Again take the squeegee and start smoothing it until the design completely transfers on to the wall. Once you are sure about it carefully remove the plastic cover seeing that the decal is on to the wall.
