Use Of Computer Chips In Transportation

The computer chip is very small in size – about the size of the postal stamp. It contains electronic switches called transistors which are being used in all types of transportation vehicles. In cars, trucks, automobiles, ships, aircrafts these computer chips are helpful in making the easy transportation easy.

Use in Automobiles: In Automobiles air bag is used for expanding or distressing the air bags in case of crash or over heating of the vehicles; and also used for finding the exact position of the cars i.e. GPS. The two types of computer chips which are used are micro controllers and micro processors. The microprocessor is used for control the flow of data and even for data processing. Where as the microcontroller is used for measuring, calculating, controlling the vehicle variables which are being detected by the use of sensors.

Use in Buses and Trains: In the present days transportation has become advanced by using computers. They are letting the passengers in with an electronic card. If you swipe that card at the electronic terminal of the bus or train, you can board into the bus/train. Both the card and the electronic terminal contain computer chips. Computer chip inside the card is used for calculating the left out money where as the computer chip inside the electronic terminal is used for storing the information about the bill and is also used for detecting the boarding and departing times and even places. Both the chips are used for calculating whether the card is valid or not and even for calculating the amount of the money left in the card.

Use in Boats: Boats and ships use computer chips. Sailors use these chips for finding out the correct path. They are guided by the satellite systems which also use computer chips inside them. Chips inside the Boats are used for monitoring and calculating the speeds in extreme hot and even in cold conditions.

Thus these computer chips play an important role in the present advanced means of transport.
