The Oscars, are the greatly honored awards after the Nobel Prize. We knew it though. Actually the Oscar award is called the Academy awards. The main intention of these awards is to recognize the best performance and excellence of professionals in the film industry. Well as we see these Oscar awards being awarded every year I thought to provide you people with a little information on these Academy awards or the Oscars.
The first Oscar awards ceremony was held in 1929 at Hollywood with as less as 250 people as audience. And in 2008 just the number of actors who were awarded is 253. So we have celebrated our 80th Oscar this year and the 81st ceremony will be in February 22nd the next year.
The naming of Oscar is not after Oscar Wilde as many think. Even there are no evidences on how Oscar got that name. But it is the statuette that was the main inspiration of the name. But there are many claims that they named the world’s most honored award.
